Praise be to God, the Physician, the Healer, / the One, the Light, the Knowing, the Sufficient,

The Illuminator of sights with light, / and the Creator of the earths and heaven.

And the blessings of God, the Creator of mankind, / be upon prophets whose mention polishes thought,

And the family, companions, and the chosen ones, / without discrimination or harm.

And after this, the mainstay of the *urjuza*, / clear in words, not encoded,

I composed it on collyrium for the students, / to memorize a small part of the science in brief.

And here I am beginning the discourse / with the help of the Possessor of bounty, the Strong in power.
