Research
Research
Research that brings physician attention, judgment, and presence into clearer view.
Poet Doctor treats physician writing as serious material for scholarship. Research here moves from close reading to pattern recognition, from historical continuity to contemporary questions, and from literary form to the future design of medicine. The goal is not abstraction for its own sake, but clearer understanding of the human work of doctoring.
Where we work
Our work moves across reading, research, history, and public scholarship. Each area offers a different way into the same central question: what should remain human in doctoring, and how should that human work be developed now?

Our research approach
Poet Doctor combines literary reading, archival work, digital methods, and conceptual argument. Close reading remains central. Digital tools should clarify, not flatten. Research should be shareable beyond the academy. We use each method to sharpen the others.
